Manual Windows to Power Windows In 02 Silverado

Manual Windows to Power Windows In 02 Silverado

Postby Titanium74 [OP] » Feb 28 2017, 9:23am

I have a 2002 Chevy silverado base model that I want to put power windows in. I already have the door panels, Wiring harnesses for both doors ( both from 99-02 vehicles ), switches and everything. I guess I didnt do enough reading before I went and bought all this so now im kinda stuck..
So has anyone done this before? I read that you can just wire 12v power to them and they will work but I have no idea what im doing to be honest. Can someone show me a diagram or something, or tell me what wires to tap the power into to make this work? I dont care about the power locks or anything just the windows.

If you have the harnesses for the doors, they should just plug into the junction boxes at either end of the dash. To be sure, open the fuse panel on the left end of the dash and find the cavity for the door harness, make sure the terminals are in the junction block for it. Make sure the terminals are also there for the 25A PWR WDO circuit breaker.

Is it really that simple? The harnesses I bought, One from a 99 silverado and the other was a 02 avalanche, they both have this two row long white plug ( data bus plug? I think? ) and this other black plug that wont plug into anything.
My truck doesnt have the thing they plugged into even though everything is supposed to plug right up.

Nothing in the door works off the Data lines in that truck. Post clear pictures of your harnesses.

Picture of the door harness plug at the left fusebox.

There are kits out there for this. I had it done on my 03. I think I paid something like $300 for power window install.

Most car radio install shops will do it. I don't know how they wired it all up but I had three buttons on my side of the truck and one on the other. I also had power locks and keyless entry done too so I was in the neighborhood of $700 for all that stuff done. But the power windows alone was around $300.
There is always enough time to do it over again, but never enough time to do it right the first time.

Factory components. All I had was what I listed above, I didnt go an buy a underdash wiring harness or anything. When I did a little research before posting I saw where people were saying you could simply run 12v power to the 99-02 switches and they would work and thats what I ended up doing. Im not sure If you could put in power locks using the same method I used for the windows.. I think an aftermarket car alarm/keyless entry setup would be better for power locks.
Like I said, Ill finish the wiring and post back here either today or tomorrow.
