Water leaking into floor board from fender

Water leaking into floor board from fender

Postby Rebzone [OP] » Feb 22 2018, 2:54am

I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 HD and I recently found water under my floor liner on driver side! The carpet and padding was soaked. We had a lot of rain recently so I thought it was possibly the OnStar antenna. I have 62,000 Miles on it but purchased the extended warranty through the dealership. I took it to dealer and they found that it was leaking through a poorly sealed fender on driver side. It was coming in close to the parking break. The carpet was starting to smell and looked to have mold. The dealer said this leak wasn’t covered under warranty! I couldn’t believe this! Why would a factory defect not be subject to warranty or be a recall?!?! I have to take it back to the dealer body shop in a few weeks. They estimate the repair could cost $600-$700!!! Anybody have any luck getting GM customer service help with this problem?

Welcome to S/S

Usually don't hear about the good GM CS stories, but I've read to many bad stories.
No harming in giving them GM a little piece of your mind

You can buy body sealant if it's something you think you can do yourself.

Pocket the $700, don't tell Mrs. Boss, and buy something cool for your rig

Different year range/body style than mine...but having the same issue. I have yet to do a water leak test to determine the water entry point...but will be looking over the drivers door seal and water intrusion around there very closely when I do. As well as the third brake light....etc.

I’m not much into body work but always want to save money. The dealership may help me with this since I purchased the truck from them and they have a body shop. It’s terrible that it’s a factory defect and isn’t covered with my warranty just because it’s water related!!! I just can’t wrap my head around that type of rationale

Un-rational rationality, it's all part of the new world order.
