Adding heated seats & steering wheel

Adding heated seats & steering wheel

Postby FamousAmos [OP] » Jul 20 2018, 1:18am

I live up in Alberta, Canada & winter is often in the wrong side of -20 I wanted to add heated seats & maybe a steering wheel to an 09 silverado LT as far as I can see the seat kits are only like $80 and fairly simple to install (recommendations would be good though if anyone has a specific kit or a how to guide) wondered if its possible to add a heated steering wheel or not? I'm guessing its a new wheel & slip ring minimum

I don't know anything about heated steering wheels but I installed the So Joy heated seat kit and I am very happy with it. I posted a link to the thread below. It is a lot of work but it isn't hard to do.

One thing to consider is the switches. I opted for electronic switches that reset to off when the truck is turned off. If I had remote start and wanted warm seats when I got in the truck I would have installed mechanical switches that will stay on when I remote start the truck in the morning.

I have a bad back and I will never go without them again.

I hope this helps

Bob

You can add a heated steering wheel. As far as I know you just need a new wheel and new clock spring.

Perfect the thread is very handy, thank you. I'm guessing I would need some sort of switch and an ECU flash for a steering wheel too?

Does anyone know if a heated steering wheel out of a 09 Hummer will fit in my 2008 Chevy Duramax 2500 HD? I would like to add the heated steering wheel option. Also what clock spring would I need?
