Chevy MyLink - Android Auto update - 2014

Postby jpbutler1983 [OP] » Oct 09 2019, 3:25pm

Good day!

Did we ever see if GM was bringing back the website for free updates, software upgrades, and free apps for the MyLink? Specifically, I would like to be able to interface android auto without having to drop $1,000 on a new HMI. (I have the 8" screen)

Has anyone successfully done this or heard of it being a possibility soon?

No. There is no way to do it. It was a false promise by gm salesmen. If you want android or apple play you have to install the new module. Prices have come down. It’s around $600 now.

Ahh.. well - thank you for that update. Might just do the full replacement with the Tablet option then.

I didn’t have it in my 15. And almost added it.

I do have it my 17. And I never use it. It’s not seamless enough for me. And it annoys me with how texts maps and apps are used. Plus if you want to use maps AND your radio it’s a even less seem less.

I just bought a rokform magnet and keep my phone above the vent and use it for gps there and then bluetooth my music to the radio

I converted my 2015 to RPO I06. It requires both modules (One behind the HU, and one behind the glove box,) and a new receptacle in the jump seat storage console...It was about $600, but I love android auto. Got it from these guys:
