Decent looking bluetooth head unit for 2012 LT

Decent looking bluetooth head unit for 2012 LT

Postby TealThunder [OP] » Dec 19 2019, 4:30pm

I've been using the 3.5 mm jack to run music in my truck since I' bought it a few months ago, getting ready to upgrade my phone and will lose the 3.5mm jack in the process so I figured now would be a good time to upgrade the head unit in my truck. I previously was planning on purchasing one of the Eonon units but the only one they currently sell for the 2012 doesn't have a volume knob which seems like it would become annoying. Just looking for a unit that isn't going to look super out of place in the dash, has bluetooth compatability and retains use of the factory dash controls. Thanks

i installed a pioneer unit with a seperate adapter for steering controls. works great. its the avh2550nex head unit. i didnt learn about the idatalink till after i installed it, but id look at that adapter kit.
Only issue that radio does not have a volume knob. But it does have carplay and android auto.

works great in my 2012

Pioneer have great sound I had a pioneer double din touch screen before I went to a kenwood. The kenwood has good sound as well but the pioneer imo sounded better. I switched because the radio would cut out at high volume. Ended up being the harness I bought to retain everything. The harness I originally bought that gave me problems was the PAC RadioPro RP5-GM31. $109.95 harness that I couldn’t return because their customer service had me cutting it up trying to solve the issue. Don’t get me wrong they did try to solve the issue but it didn’t work. I ended up swapping the harness to the Crux SOOGM-16V and it worked perfectly. My head unit is the kenwood ddx375bt. Has Bluetooth and all the goodies except apple CarPlay. I do not recommend that pac harness.

You can go with a pac harness rp5gm31 but I wouldn’t recommend it. I had bought one and my radio would shut down at mid to high volume. Thought it was the head unit and it ended up being the $150 harness. I replaced the harness with a Cruz SWRGM-49 and the problem was solved. The pac harness retains everything. But I can tell you you will still have to use the aftermarket mic for Bluetooth for no matter what stereo or harness you use. The Cruz harness retain steering wheel controls and retained accessory power as well as your chimes.

If you want close to stock look, dependability, Prime support and no hassle install, then check out this thread. It might be a bit more expensive unit than some of the more generic units, but this is a great unit and Walt's personal support is top notch. He has walked me through questions and issues on Sunday afternoons over the phone.
