Discreet Subwoofer Ideas/options

Discreet Subwoofer Ideas/options

Postby AdiosF150 [OP] » Jul 30 2014, 3:53pm

Any ideas for a discreet, out of the way single subwoofer (ex. A custom center console)

I want to retain full use of my rear seats and floorboard.

Thanks

Look into a JL Audio center console Stealthbox.

That is a hell of a lot of money for that little box and 1 10" subwoofer!

Agreed. But I think it's about the only other option if you're not willing to go with a sub under the rear seats.

Have you thought about going with a small 8in tube under the back seat. I know you said not to use this area, but Bazooka used to make a small 8in tube with a 5 channel amp, 100 wpc to the sub and 25wpc to the other 4. I put one in my buds F150 in 2001 and he liked it so much, it moved to his next 2 [email protected] And, you can always unplug it and take it out if you need the extra space.

That JL is nice but expensive as all get out. That bazooka's nice, might be able to mount it in that crevice where the factory jack sits, could skip the amp too. Honestly 1 quality 8" will be enough for me, just want a fuller sound is all.

Good ideas so far

You could make one yourself for 1/3rd the cost.

I have a friend that has one. It sounds nice, but there is no real oomph to it. On top of that, where its located, it just rattles everything around it. so you hear a fair amount of rattles, and buzzing from it.

You don't have to take up your whole rear under seat.. A single 8" in the right kind of box might be what you are looking for. If you mount the amp to the back wall, you might get exactly what you need. Add some quick disconnects to the sub and you can easily take it out.

I've got one of these, sounds pretty good. It could even be mounted behind the rear seat I believe.

I have an '08 Crew that I took the center seat out of and mounted the speaker box on the center seat frame for the same reason. I will try to post up some pics in a bit.

Here you go. The amp is hidden in the front section and there is a down-firing 12" in the box. I tried to make it look as factory as possible.
