Im replacing the sound system in my truck but i have a couple of questions about the gear.
Here's the gear:
*All MB Quart*
QS216 6.5 speakers Power Handling:
Peak: 340 watts per set / 170 watts each side
RMS: 160 watts per set / 80 watts each side
-DWE 304 12" sub Peak Power Handling: 1000 watts
RMS Power Handling: 500 watts
Frequency Response: 18 - 300 Hz
Subwoofer Size: 12"
Impedance: dual 2 ohms
Dual Voice Coils
-Q4.150w 4 ch amp RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 150 watts x 4 chan.
2 ohms: 220 watts x 4 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 440 watts x 2 chan.
Max power output: 1760 watts
-DKE 108 3.5" <-- not being amped, powered from the Head Unit (rear speakers - just so there's something there)
My questions are.. (Im not the smartest when it comes to power and amperage..)
1) My plan is to run the amp in a 3ch fashion.. ch 1/2 4ohms 150w for F L&R and then ch 3/4 im planning on bridging so i can send 440w to the 2ohm sub. Does this work and make sense??
2) Running a 2ohm sub makes more sense than running a 4ohm correct? 300w wouldnt be enough to power the sub. 440w is almost not enough as it is..
3) correct me if im wrong. a 2ohm DVC sub wired as a DVC is still a 2ohm load correct? It doesnt make the amp see a 1ohm right?
Now if we all think this set up will work and i get it all installed but find out the sub needs alittle more juice i may add the q1.1500d which would give me 850w on a 2ohm load - this would set me back an additional $300 so im trying to make this other amp work. If this doesnt work now i will buy the q4.80 for the fronts (and run the rear as well) and get the q1.1500d for the sub. All thoughts/answers/questions are greatly appreciated.. thanks!
