New Here

So... I'm new (which should be obvious, given the title, description, and number of posts). I own the HISOTCB (The Hyper-Intelligent Shade of the Color Blue) which is a 2005 Silverado 1500 LS 5.3. I've loved this truck for 10 years and have personally put 215k on it. Got it with 40k in 10 and now has 255k on it as of today. I'm in NC and work from home as a software developer. I'm not overly mechanically inclined so I come seeking advice on my truck. I'll asked and search elsewhere, but in summary, I want to know how long I can expect to have this thing around? I have what sounds like a lifter tick and had an oil leak at the pan which, hopefully, was resolved this morning at the shop. Hope to find some good information, and see you soon!

Welcome....from the great state of Oregon.....

Your truck could last for another 200k, or it could let go the day after tomorrow. Take care of it, get that lifter tick looked at, and change the oil as required, you should be ok. That 5.3 engine is a great engne.

Welcome from Wyoming! I love the era of trucks from 1999-2007. Like already stated, change the oil often and the odds are in your favor that the 5.3 will keep on going.

Welcome Jeremiah, nice looking truck. One thing you could check quick would be your manifold bolts, those are known to break and cause exhaust leak, which you can hear a tick mainly at cold starts.

Welcome from northeastern PA! I was wondering if your truck can be refracted into a free-standing prism for special occasions? Douglas Adams would approve. Welcome and enjoy that truck. Lots of great folks here and lots of great info too!
