New Owner in Florida

Postby SpiritRT [OP] » Feb 22 2011, 8:49pm

I purchased my new 2010 Silverado 1500 4x4 a couple weeks ago with 80 miles on it. Now Ive got 2700 miles and I've already been back to the dealer twice with a tire/driveline vibration. So far I am very happy with the truck, I just hope they can fix the vibration.

I am a parts director for a large automotive dealer group in central Florida (NOT GM). I'm not here to sell anything, just here to hang out and see if I can contribute. My background is everything automotive. I have a diverse collection of vehicles with a majority of my cars being Turbo Dodges of the 80's-90's.

Welcome! Heard about vibrations on new trucks before. I think one problem was just bad tires.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

So far they have replaced 2 tires. Now they think there is a 3rd tire giving problems. Being in the business, I understand the tires flat spotting on aged units. My truck was built May 2010, I bought it at the end of January 2011 and the truck had only moved 80 miles in that much time.

My frustration is more with the Service Manager at the dealership and his "dont care attitude"... However, after my surprise visit with him and the General Manager this morning, he is now seeing things my way.

All I want the vibration to go away so I can start making mods to the truck. ;)

Well, if we can correct the vibration problem... Right away I want to add black leather interior, headrest TV’s for the kids…

Over time I plan on a suspension lift/larger tires, new front and rear bumpers that accommodate D rings and a winch. Later I’d like to add a supercharger...
