New owner of 2016 RCSB Z71 5.3 from OK

Postby Loganator456 [OP] » Feb 13 2020, 1:17am

Hi all!

I've been a lurker here for the last month or so, but in January I purchased my 2016 Silverado RCSB Z71 4x4 with the 5.3L/6L80 with a hair over 95,000 miles. I previously owned a Victory Red 2000 Silverado RCSB with the 4.3L/4L60E and over 230,000 miles, and still have that as my backup. Just wanted to say hi and thank you all for the endless amount of useful information! I look forward to participating and paying it forward! Also, hello to all my fellow Okies.

Some of my first pictures after buying the truck:

Rear wheel well liners before/after:

A set of 3 22" Rally 2 wheels I bought for $350 on Facebook (super clean):

I have begun to modify it but I'll probably start a build thread at some point down the line since I have a lot of plans for this truck! So far, I've leveled it, added rear wheel well liners, and purchased a set of Chevrolet 22" Rally wheels secondhand which have yet to have tires mounted. Much more is in the mail. My plan soon is to add a 30" behind-the-grille light bar and some 33's.

Thanks!

Welcome! Wow...95k already on a 16. Somebody was driving that thing. Bought mine almost 5 years ago with 92k on it. But it was cleaner than lower mileage ones.

Care to tell how much you paid. I miss my rcsb some times. I had fox 2.5 coil overs on it with a 1.5in body lift.

Yeah, it's definitely somewhat high-mileage for only being 4 years old now, however it's overall in good shape and had thorough service records/clean CarFax, for what it's worth.

Beautiful truck, what tire size are you running in that picture? I paid a hair over $21k from a dealership. The mileage and the rear end ratio (3.08) are really the only cons, but it's a 2LT Z71 with nearly every option I think the single cab trucks could get, and it's a dream for me. I've always wanted a black short-wide Z71 and the 2016-2018's are my favorite generation so I don't really mind paying a little more for something I have to modify very little to actually be satisfied with.

Those were 295/55/20. Go through my threads you will see a few with my 2015.

A little high with those miles. My trade in on that truck with miles was 23k. And I think they sold it for 28k. I paid 31k for it new. Had all the options. And yeah the crappy 3.08s.

Definitely on the high end of the truck's value, that's for sure. But I'm thrilled I could get a RCSB with every option, it's hard to find these around my area, while like most places the crew cabs and double cabs are aplenty. I don't plan on going any larger than 33x12.50's so I'm hoping the 3.08's will do alright. Later on down the line, depending on how bad I rub with the 33's, I will probably go with the CST 4.5" lift kit as I've read that these are a solid kit but retain the factory track width and have slightly less cutting and drilling than I'm seeing with other kits.

Thanks for the warm welcome, ya'll!

Yes that’s what I have on my 2017 now. With the same tires from the 2015.

I wouldn’t go any larger than 33s on those 3.08s. get a diablo tuner. It will help a lot. Luckily the truck is light and the 6 speed helps a lot. So you don’t feel it that much
