Yes. But it was always a “fix it ticket” and you were able to re install a quiet exhaust. Get it inspected and then put your loud exhaust back on. Now it’s a fine, no fix it tickets.

:D ^ Yup.^^^ The law went through quite a few changes but mostly the same thing with that 95dB. In my early days I used to get all petrified when cops pull up in my Whipple'd Tahoe (good thing it kept breaking parts so it wasn't running much), then my sportbike, then Subaru. Never had any issues with my minivan though, not even so much as a look...and now, happy that the Sierra is nice and heavy. I think this is the only time in SoCal where being 'heavy' has its perks!

Don't worry, we are already tying the noose around our own neck here in Texas too. Many don't realize it yet and are actively contributing...

How about moving a little East to the Midwest?

Yep, you definitely need to be off either coast....the further the better for individual rights anyway.

So, are the cops equipped with dB meters to be able to enforce the 95dB? Or are they otherwise certified to be able to distinguish the noise level?

The majority are not equipped with a dB meter. The few cases that I know of the officer simply wrote the ticket for modified exhaust and checked the court/referee boxes. I'm not sure what other evidence were collected.

FYI the dB app that I had on my iPhone3GS was only 1 dB off from an "approved professional grade" unit at 10' and 25' away! Haven't checked current phones, but I'm sure they are better.

Measured my GMPP Borla this AM after warm up...72dB at 20" away from tail pipe at 45 degree angle. Will need to send my 6 year old in the cab later today to hold the pedal down to 2500 RPM so that I can measure it

Seems to me they have to "prove" that you exceed the limit. Just like speeding, they can't simply say it looked like you were going 80mph. I would think you could successfully challenge it when you appear in court if the officer is simply going off his opinion.

So, basically they can arbitrarily say your exhaust is too loud without proof. Guilty until proven innocent? But I guess their loophole is the fact that no exhaust should be modified.

And what constitutes "modified". Just putting on an exhaust tip would make it "modified".

Guys, get out of that commy hole. You will be lucky if they even let you drive a gas powered vehicle in ten years.

To each their own I guess. Love my magnaflow but the drone got old on longer trips. Put a resonator in each tailpie and viola! Loud when I get on it but very reasonable when leaving for work in the early morning.
