Diablosport Intune I3 vs. Flashpaq F5

Postby sgj86 [OP] » Jun 27 2020, 4:26am

New member here and new owner of a 2016 Silverado Z71 with the 5.3. I'm interested in a tuner and have been researching online and in this forum. It seems like the Diablosport is the crowd favorite here, but I noticed that the Flashpaq got bigger gains on the Dyno tests at American Trucks. See screenshot for the specific numbers. What are the benefits of the Diablosport? They are very close in price.

Tuning is all dependent on what kind of mods you are going to get and what kind of results you want. If you are tuning a stock truck I say don't. There are certain things tuning is good for mainly turning off AFM or really useful for diesels but on a stock gasser meh. Tell us more about what your ultimate goal is and then we can help you figure out what is best for you.

I will be keeping my truck mostly stock but will eventually get a CAI. My goals for the tuner would be to improve drivability (shifting, throttle response, etc.) And increase some performance. My truck is currently stock except for a leveling kit and 33s.

Will you be towing? What engine do you have?

How much better on the Dyno, supposedly?

A CAI does basically nothing for performance. A little noise, a little looks.

Go with an I3 and a Lew tune. You won't be disappointed.....shifting and what you're calling throttle response will be much improved, and you could also add the "paint stick" mod or use a throttle controller.

Agreed with Roo. Personally I would not do a mail order, I have looked into it and was interested but nothing beats a dyno tune

I am pretty skeptical that the one will add 60 hp and 50 tq on tune alone. do you have a link to their testing/data

You will definitely not see anywhere close to those gains.

I'd be shocked if you could squeeze 30hp out of these motors with a tune only.

Get yourself one of the diablo tuners and then get with Lew and have him make you a custom tune. For an otherwise stock truck, you cant beat it.

Dyno tunes are great, but they are tuned to get the most power on a dyno. Often dont focus on normal, everyday driving. Street tunes are where it's at for most everyone. And that's what Lew makes. You send him logs and he builds the tune to suit your truck and your driving style. Not just full bore on a dyno.

These gains are for a turbo diesel... you would never get these gains on a gas vehicle with just a tune...

and in response to the other post about nothing beats a dyno tune, heh... well, a tune is only as good as the person using the software... I have fixed/improved many so-called "dyno tunes" for people... just because it was done on a dyno, does not mean it is a better tune... just my 2 cents...
