EGR delete.

Hey everyone. Long time Lerner, had to make a new account for this question. I'm no sure where to go next.
99 Chevy 5.3, put shorty header on and removed the egr. Now I need to get it inspected to put it back on the road. The closest shop to me to tune it(they need the truck there) is 2 hrs away and $250 foe the tune. I'd have no way short of paying someone to haul. The truck there and back.
Is there and easier way to do this. The truck is not legal for. The road yet (no registration or inspection, spent the last year doing a frame swap).

Shouldn't need a tune if you just added shorties? they gain you little to nothing. Why did you do an egr delete on it?

The shorty headers didn't come with the port, plus the tubes were shot.. It wont throw a code?

You will have a light on but I think it will run, will need a tune though to turn off light.

Someone more knowledgeable will probably chime in this evening to correct me or agree with me, hang tight

You will want a tune either way. And short tube header most definitely will get you some gains.

Just not as much as long tubes can. Shorties may help you pick up a little more power down low. But the gains aren't worth the cost imo.

And you'll need a block off for the egr system

Talk with Lew about getting setup with a tuner and tune. He is THE man. Only guy I'd have do my tunes unless I was forced to go local/dyno due to mods.
