Bilstein 5100 question front shaft spinning

Bilstein 5100 question front shaft spinning

Postby cummins0331 [OP] » May 05 2014, 12:04am

Hello everyone.

So I installed all 4 of my new 5100's on my 09 sierra last night. I can not get the shock nut to the required 19LBS with out the shock shaft spinning. I know its got a place where you can place vice grips on the top of the shaft, but then you can reach the nut. Anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks!

What if you used one of the oil filter tools the ones with the rubber strap that is adjustable to hold the shock in the wheel well, and then trq the bolt on top. Might need two people but 19 lbs you could probably hold the shock with one hand and accomplish that.
