in need of tips for a lift

Postby 1985 chevy 2500 [OP] » Jul 19 2011, 5:55pm

hi i have a 1985 gmc 2500 high sierria 2wd with no lift or any of that sort on it right now. I was wondering how much it would cost me to buy and have installed for about a 3in or 4in lift but nothing special oh and if you know leave how much for it just to be installed without the cost of lift also.

I'm guessing it varies, depending on your location. Have you talked to any of the shops that can do a lift install?

in need of tips for a lift

You're probably running a solid front axle so lifting it will be extremely cheap compared to what an IFS lift kit cost for the newer trucks.

New springs for the front, maybe new steering arm depending how high you go and blocks with longer U bolts for the rear.

Shackles and blocks for both front and rear. Google search lift kits for that year truck. You'll probably see it's about $500 for a 6" lift.

Blocks on the front are dangerous. All the kits will be with springs and blocks for the rear.

It's 2wd so no front axle just a-arms and coil springs.
Should be an easy lift.

I gotta say, that truck would look sick when it's all said and done.
