Lowering shaclkles or remove rear blocks?

Lowering shaclkles or remove rear blocks?

Postby Demos [OP] » Nov 07 2019, 2:16pm

Hey Guys I’m new here got my 05 Sierra 2 weeks ago. One of the things I came across on this forum is the idea of lowering shackles or removing the rear leaf blocks to help level the truck out. I won’t do a leveling kit because of the issues it may cause. Simple question, both look easy to do so what’s the better idea. Thanks

Removing the block is the easiest option. May or may not get you perfectly level. But it will be close.

I removed my rear block and kept the stock U-bolts. No issues.

So I ended up buying the new u bolts. They were cheap enough. I can live w the look of this truck now. Old u bolts were surprisingly loose. I rested the car on the frame rails in front of the wheels, pulled the wheels, jacked up from the center of the rear to relieve tension on the bolts and lowered the rear to let the blocks out. You had to jockey the rear to get the pins to line up. It’s easier w the wheels off. Should I get a shorter length shock? If so does anyone have a part number?
