Mysterious sound...any help appreciated!

Postby delovett1 [OP] » May 30 2020, 11:03pm

Hi everyone!

New to the forum and am hoping someone can help identify this creaking sound I am hearing.

It happens at low speeds, typically when we are parking, and seems to happen after we turn the wheel. I can't pinpoint where it comes from although it does seem like its behind the front grille? Video of the sound found here https://youtu.be/PzOFUeVBqAg

Any help or input is appreciated! Look forward to being part of the community here!

Sounds like dry ball joints that may be worn out.

Jack the front of the truck up and check for play in the ball joints and steering linkage ( tier rod ends ETC )

should be many how to videos online that explain the proper way to check front suspension parts.

Why would you not have changed them all at the same time? Just asking....

Cool I hope you find the problem easily enough. I normally replace as many wearable parts I can afford that could effect the alignment once anything shows signs of wear. Then I take my vehicle to an alignment specialty shop not a big brand tire store as those people normally will not do what is needed for a good alignment but sometime you can get lucky. just make sure to get a before and after print out and watch them do it.
