I know this bed swap can be done, going from a 08 bed to a 2017 but what if anything needs to be done with the wiring for this to work properly.

Gonna look a bit funky with differences in body lines and styles. I think some of the newer beds/trucks have led lights in them so the wiring will be different than others. And different style tail lights also have different numbers of bulbs.

Best would be to get wiring diagrams of both trucks and check what can be done..
I´d like to see the swap but as Neal said I think it´ll look goofy with the different body lines

This is an eight foot bed , i dont think it looks too bad. im trying on an extended cab with a shorter bed which i would think would look a little better.

Is there a specific reason you want to do that swap?

I think it looks a bit goofy and NNBS bedsides or whole beds are readily available.
Don't think it will be worth the effort you need to put in with wiring and so on..

It doesn't look right and lose the 1980's pin striping.

Those pics were just used as a reference, not my vehicle. Yes, the pinstripes are awful. I'm just looking to replace the rusted out bed i have currently , rust free 07-13 6.5 beds are hard to find.

If you can weld or know a buddy, body shop what ever just get the bedsides and replace them.
Or keep an eye out for a bed. 6.5ft are not as common as the shortys but you can find them

What is your reasoning behind the bed swap?

It's scary the amount of rusted crew cabs I've seen even in our area. I'm going to be more proactive in keeping that area clean and rust free. I might have 3-4 years before mine starts.

mine have been hidden with some fender flares up until about a year ago . the rust was extended beyond the point of the flares looking pretty crappy so it was time to do something.

I don't think it looks too bad. you guys make it sound like bedside just "plop" right on there..
I'm a welder, and I could swap 5 beds out before completing 1 bedside swap. Not counting the paint job..

I think it doesn't look bad at all. 99% of people who saw the truck wouldn't realize something is different. Certainly looks better than rust!

What flares are those on the front wheel wells?
