I'm interested in 2003 - 2007 2500 4x4 crew cabs with a 6.0. I found an 03 I like except the price and lately I have come across some. 1500hds that look like 2500's since they are 8 lug. What is the difference between the trucks?

1500HDs are just 1500s with extra leaf springs and tighter shocks in rear to handle a slightly bigger load and also come with 6.0L engine and the 8 lug wheels like you mentioned. If you really want ability, go for a 2500, if you just want a 1500 that can carry more in the bed go for 1500HD.
