So they are 75% or better tread. No guarantees on date code or dry cracks though. I could spend the extra and get brand new ones with 2018+ date codes, but for my uses, as long as they aren't dry rotted, I'm fine with it. I didn't even put 2k on the truck this past year I don't think. And it never sees highway speeds

I can get the Goodyear MTs for less brand new, but I'd prefer the BFGs as they are a better tire for my uses.

Gotcha, I didn't know if they were different than normal tires or something.

also find those shocks somewhere else and tell them to ship/charge for all but shocks and get this build going

It wouldn't be getting installed until spring anyway. So I'm not in a huge rush.

They are available on skyjackers site, but I have a $150 discount from jegs so I want to order from there.

I can order everything separately through jegs so I could order the shocks when they come in stock again. The hydro and nitro shocks are available, but the black max, which are supposedly the softer ones, are backordered last I checked.

I also need to get the extended brake lines, and zero rate block from offroad design. The zero rate will allow me to push the axle front 1" as well as giving an extra inch of lift. So it'll effectively be a 5" lift up front.

Good news.

This weekend I'll have time to install my new led dash lights. I also picked up a nice and fairly profitable side project which just more than funded the wheels and tires for this build so I don't even need to go into what I previously saved for them. I plan on getting the wheels and tires the weekend after next.

Lift kit will be ordered very soon whether the shocks are available or not. They currently are in stock. I checked last night.

Lift kit, zero rates, and brake lines are all ordered!

Everything showed in stock. The shocks and steering stabilizers are coming right from jegs. The springs and pitman arm are being shipped from skyjacker.

Then my zero rates, brake lines and front 2 studs for the u bolts (the dana 60 uses 3 u bolts and then 2 studs instead if just 4 u bolts) are all coming from offroad design.

I'm going to attempt to leave work early and get my wheels/tires this Friday if I can manage it. If not, then it'll be another week or so until I can get down there and get them. I'll call them Monday and make sure they have the ones I'm after.

2 kids kinda haha. Not mine by blood but my kids as far as I'm concerned.

I just bust ass working and doing side jobs to have extra play money haha. I'll be all in to this lift setup and the wheels/tires for around $2k. So it's not too crazy.

Now my duramax, never would have happened if the kids were in my life at the time lol. The truck itself would be, but the compounds and fuel system definitely would not have happened.

Full parts list that I have coming currently in case anyone's wondering the specifics.

-4" skyjacker soft ride spring lift kit
-Skyjacker black max shocks front and rear
-Skyjacker black max dual steering stabilizers
-Offroad designs 1" zero rate block (2.5" wide)
-Offroad designs dana 60 stud kit
-Offroad designs braided stainless brake lines
-BFG 37x12.5r16.5 Baja hmmwv tires
-24 bolt staggered pair hmmwv wheels

For the rear lift, the kit comes with a block, but I am still undecided if I will use that, or do a shackle flip. I also may remove leafs from the rear packs. If I do that, I will do a shackle flip, and then run a smaller block to make up the difference. I'll see how it sits with the front done and go from there.

Does this side project involve selling kidneys? 😂

Haha nope just some work on a friend of a freinds service truck. It's not a bad job but a tad bit labor intensive so I threw him a price and he agreed. It's still a WAY better deal than having any shop do it. But since I have zero overhead, it's all profit for me. He paid in advance fir all parts and I told him labor waits until the job is done.

Lol. That's typically how I fund my truck stuff. I get side work that either can't go to a shop, or stuff that isn't worth taking to a shop. Usually for people I know.

It normally works out good. Some projects I under bid a little, but I still make money since I otherwise wouldn't have been doing anything.

Jegs shipped a fair bit of my lift yesterday. So I'll have the shocks and steering stabilizers Wednesday. Friday I should be going to get my tires.

Lol. I wish. I mean in theory, of I had everything I could.

But I'll be waiting on my wheel spacers for a while yet. The bora spacers take a bit to make. Unfortunately it's a needed item to run the hmmwv wheels due to their extremely high positive offset.

Just giving you a hard time, cant wait to see it put together though. Not a big fan of those wheels and tires by themselves but I am thinking it might look better all together. I was looking through some pictures of similar builds and I think I like it.. still wish you had gone custom flat bed though

Just sealed the deal with the tires. Guy I talked to (Bill at Eastern Surplus) was really cool. Told me they are out of the 24 bolt wheels, but do have a bunch of 12 bolt wheels with the same tires. Not a deal breaker for me since I do not need the extra weight capacity of the 24 bolt wheels.

He said they will hand pick 4 of the best ones they got for me. I pick them up Friday at 2:00.

Parts from offroad design shipped today. Shows delivery date as Friday. So just waiting on the rest to ship.

Edit: just got the email from skyjacker that the remaining parts shipped and are scheduled for delivery Friday as well.

I'd be super tempted to throw it all on this weekend and just run the 33s until my spacers get here. But it's supposed to be in the 20s and windy this weekend, so I'd rather not freeze while doing it lol.

Fairly drastic development in the turbo project.

Work was going through the parts shelves. Found a brand new Holset WH1C turbo that was ordered in back in 2006. Never sold and has been on the shelf since. They can't send it back anymore, and cummins has made that part number inactive, meaning no cores available to be returned.

Gave $350 for it. List price is $3400. So I'll be using this one instead of my rebuilt GM3 turbo now. I will still finish the build of that GM3, but otherwise will keep it as a spare or sell it. This turbo is larger than what would normally be on these motors, and the wastegate is set to 17psi. So I will need to make a manual wastegate control for it to drop it down. But other than that, it will bolt right up to my manifold and all.
