Did you check the turbo? I worked on a Saab that burned oil and no one could find anything wrong with it until we checked/wiggled the turbine shaft and it was snapped obviously that's worst case scenario if it's the turbo leaking. Didn't make any weird noises. Would have idled all day if we let it. Also I don't know how common the DMax's were to get holes in pistons like the previous 6.5TD.. I would check with a bore-scope as previously mentioned
