2010 Silverado 2500 Gear Selector

i test drove a 2010 Silverado 2500HD today. I notice something strange with the gear selector display. It read: P R N D M 1
What is the extra "1" for????? When you put it into gear it read P R N D M1 1

You were in first gear in manual mode.

Also when you put in one it's 1st gear and won't shift up

I understand how the shifter works in manual mode. I have a 6 speed currently. But this was an "EXTRA" "1" We look at several other trucks and none and including mine have the "extra 1"...
Any more thoughts

It's only on 2500 and 3500. It's just 1st gear.

i guess it is what it is. LOL We just found it weird because the other 2500 didn't have it. I better test drive more
