I’ve kinda found a lot of broken information. But I have a 2013 vin 7 lc9 I’m looking to swap in a 2008 vin 3 lc9. I was told it has afm and vvt. Which I’m going to double confirm by checking the valley cover. I’m looking for a drop in and go. Is this going to work? I’ve read they may have differences in the pistons so would I require a tune? Should I hold off on purchasing and find a vin 7

The change in VIN was due to another engine taking the 3. The 2008 engine does not have VVT. It has a single pattern camshaft, flat top pistons and smaller injectors. 2010 was the year that your version of the LC9 was introduced.

What's wrong with yours?

You could drop in the '08 LC9 and have the ECM tuned to turn off VVT and tune the motor for that particular motor.

Both engines have AFM (which I would fully delete before swapping in the engine). The '08 likely would need the updated driver's side valve cover.
