I am trying to figure out the oil pressure issue with my 2015 silverado 1500 5.3 L. I replaced the oil pressure switch/sender sensor mutilate times and the little screen is new and still the pressure drops as it warms up after driving it for about 10 to 15 minutes in town or highway. Cold start 40 psi.
After running warm it will not go over the 40 psi and idles at 30 psi or less down to 25 psi if I drive for 30 minutes. Only way it hoes up is when it shifts into different gears or unless I really slam my foot down. Idle is dropping lower and lower the longer time I'm driving it. It had a code of P0522 which sais low voltage to oil pressure sensor? I went and bought a mechanical gauge for oil pressure and my truck was at 50 psi/1000 RPM and up to 60 psi at 2000 rpms?
Any help would be appreciated? I don't want to spend a bunch of money at shops trying to get me to fork out 1200 to 2600 for oil pan and oil ring replacement 😫

Are you using AC Delco parts? L83’s do not like aftermarket sensors. These engines have a variable flow oil pump controlled by a regulator and yours seems to be working as designed. The regulator keeps it in low pressure/flow mode 90% of the time. It’s based on requested torque and the regulator switches to high pressure/flow under higher loads. I can only assume that the readings on the mechanical gauge were directly off of the pump before the regulator. The pickup tube O ring might be leaking a little bit, but your mechanical readings are pretty solid unless it was still cold. Try getting some mechanical readings when the oil is up to operating temperature.
