I believe that my truck is starting off in second gear most of the time. Someone mentioned to me it could be a shifting solenoid...does that sound right? I know very little about these transmissions. If it is a solenoid, is that an external part that I could replace or will it have to be taken to a transmission shop? Thanks for the help

Well make sure it's actually taking off in 2nd before doing anything.

Just count the shifts. From a dead stop to cruising speed, you should feel 3 shifts, 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th.

And when your idling at a stop put it in manual mode and see what gear it says you're going in.
