Discount Tire is saying that I need at least an 8 inch wide rim. Mine is 7.5. Still wonder if you could do it though?

You could do it. It will just squeeze the tire and possibly give you premature wear.

You can fit 40s or higher on a 17 inch rim... as big a tire they make you can put on a 17 inch rim if its made for it... He is asking if he can do it and not rub...

Diameter isn't the issue. It's the width that's in question..
