Hey all, I have my 2000 Silverado 1500 4.8 4x4 that is giving me some issues. My transmission blew while on a trip to PA, so I went and got it with a trailer. Long story short, old transmission is shot, new transmission that was a fresh build, will not engage any forward gears. Reverse works perfectly.
I was wondering what I could look for in the valve body area that could cause this, before re pulling this transmission for a third time to look for burnt up clutches inside.
I was thinking of looking at the forward accumulator piston in the valve body to make sure it isn't cracked or busted in any way. Would this even make sense to check?
Another tidbit of info, I had to re pull this transmission after the first install, torque converter was not fully in so the pump had to be replaced. Could this have caused any other issues?
I know a leak somewhere could cause the loss of forward gears.
To be clear I have not even driven it with this transmission. I also do not engage when in manual 1 or 2, so I figure the backwards sprag idea is out since overrun clutches should be engaged at that point.
Help would be greatly appreciated, I am already a decent amount into this and don't really want to go for a full rebuild.
Thanks in advance!
