Adding steering wheel controls

I just got a 2016 seirra (base) and it doesn’t have volume/next-previous controls on the steering wheel. It looks like there is a spot where they would go and have found the part online. Wondering if it is possible to add these controls to the steering wheel?

Generally speaking, the short answer to this is no. It's not as simple anymore as plug and play. It requires additional wiring which may or may not be there, a different clockspring, perhaps different components of/for the affected systems, and programming.

Steering wheels are designed and built for multiple configurations.

How about swapping the button block from SLT to a base steering wheel? I can get a base steering wheel for cheap but I have SLT with all of the buttons. Leather is worn out. Refresh the steering wheel with a cheap one but swap my buttons over. Is that possible? I can't find pics of these buttons removed anywhere. But the GM diagram shows those button blocks separate in the exploded view.
