When I see HDs broken down, I don't think it is "funny" as you mention in your tales of seeing jap bikes go down. In fact, I usually stop and help. Just another way that we are different, I suppose.

I am pretty sure I am right, if not no big deal though.
I think it is funny because of all the shit they gave me and karma was a bitch that day. Maybe your humor is not advanced enough to see that, not sure. I don't laugh at people broke down, just people being assholes then getting karma served to them on a nice steaming hot plate.

Exactly, as long as someone likes the sound of their vehicle and isn't an asshole like a neighbor revving it in the driveway then who cares what others think. I think it will be a very long time before they make a sound law here. What are you going to do if they make a law that your modified truck exhaust is too loud? You'll probably change it just like I would if mine didn't pass, no big deal.

It's funny to read all these comments about bikes being loud. Must not have many hot rods in these towns. When I first read the title I thought for sure that's what the comments would be about. Even loud Harley's don't even come close to my shop brother Jason and his street driven 1100 RWHP Blown Henry Jr with straight zoomies or my buddy Chris and his Blown gasser style C10. You here those boys coming 5 min before they show up! Haha

Well this exhaust law doesn't really apply to silverados or sierras as they are too heavy for it. So the whole thread should just be deleted. I'll see my self to the door now.

That's not my truck, it was forwarded to me from a concerned friend. I don't drive fast enough to turn heads. I'm trying to get some specs of the vehicle and incident.

So after seeing that ticket I contacted my good buddy Mike who is part of the local boosted truck seen and sure enough he got a $200 ticket and the cop threaten that it could be up to 1000! Now granted he's blown, cammed, long tube and Magna flow's but honestly his truck isn't that loud that I thought it would be an issue but apparently it is. He says the standard cab short bed are under the weight limit so he isn't even driving his truck until summer in hopes that it will die down a bit.

Well you know most parts of CA, perception is 100% reality. Both those trucks can easily be perceived as modified and therefore must be LOUD!
We're packing our bags as we speak. Headed to OR...muahhhahhahah...

And yeah my carven competitor catback is around 110 dB on start up with all stock manifolds and cats. So it doesn't take much to be over that regulated level

Anyway... So, are the cops now equipped with dB meters so they can actually determine whether your exhaust is louder than the allowed dB level? Or have they been trained to judge it by the ear?

Also, hasn't the law been in place since early 2000s? Or was there a change made recently?
