Noticed a ticking/grinding noise from under the hood. Took off the serpentine belt and all pulleys sounded and felt fine. Being told it's the water pump.
Noticed a ticking/grinding noise from under the hood. Took off the serpentine belt and all pulleys sounded and felt fine. Being told it's the water pump.
Look up under the WP at the weep hole. If it is stained or dripping then replace the WP. Usual culprits for noise like that are idler and tensioner pulleys and then the alternator.
WP usually leaks, while the other items (as Andy mentioned) are the typical noise-makers. Buddy of mine just had WP let go on his '05 Avalanche, and that thing was leaking like Niagara Falls, haha.
