275-60's will fit stock, 275-65's will need a level and possible some trimming if the fenderwells
It would, but that would be a slightly shorter tire than stock.push-rod said:Will a 285-50 fit?
It should. There is a TON of room with 275-60'sDenaliHD66 said:Does anyone know if 285/60/20 will fit without rubbing and no other mods?
Seems tough finding many tires in a 285/60/20 size. 275/60/20 have more selections. I like either the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, BFG All Terrains, or the Toyo Open Country AT2's. I'm leaning towards the Toyos for best all-around performance. The Wranglers I feel would wear pretty quickly. I've never been a big fan of the BFG's but they are a popular tire so I'm not sure yet.robvas said:It should. Its a 1500 not an HD. As far as I'm aware there is no torsion adjustment for the 1500s?n8dh said:285/60R20 is like a 33.5" tire, so I doubt you would fit it without some kind of a level. Maybe a torsion key crank would be all it takes...I'm not super familiar with the HDs
275/60/20 is probably what I'll end up doing. They are a full inch taller than OEM ones, which is good enough for me.n8dh said:Oh oops I though it was an HD for some reason. You are correct, the NNBS 1500s have coilover struts in the front, not torsion bars.
You won't fit that tire without a leveling kit. Most guys run 285/70R17 (32.8", same width as the one you want) with a 2" leveling kit. Your tire size is a bit taller, so you'll probably need closer to a 2.5" leveling kit to clear that tire. Member inkaholic ran a 275/60R20 size with a 2.5" level and cleared them with no issues, so you may need to trim some plastic, but no metal.
It's going to ride rough with the BFG's, period.DenaliHD66 said:Compared to the OEM 20's though what is your tire backspacing? I want more sidewall for a softer ride and more bite off road. Even though the sizes I want seem to be E-ply rated tires.
New tread design now with the BFG's and you must not have rotated them to get only 30k. Guys go 60k without a problem on the old onesJohn-D said:If your going to wheel it, I suggest an on board air system so you can drop tire pressure. I have one on my raptor for this. That said, unless you have a tire with extra plys on the sidewall, don't let air out or you will have problems. I had BFG'S on the raptor. Garbage tire. They do not self clean and gum up in mud. Never got more than 30k on them.
Your side bite comes from the lug design anyway.
