I was gonna do it on my last pan drop, but I am not all that confident in my welding skills. My son is around now, so maybe next time I will go for putting a drain plug in it. He is a welder and could do it in his sleep.

Yah, I guess for that price, what the heck.

Putting my foot in my mouth here after realizing there's no drain petcock on the 900's, or at least on mine. Really sucks balls to have to use the lower radiator hose.

Anyway, I drained and "flushed" mine with distilled water the other day. I put the truck on an angle to get the block and pump to drain as much as possible and still the most i got out of her was 8 quarts. Manual lists capacity at 17 q. I dunno, 8q residual seems like a lot.

Either way, pink Dexcool is pretty yummy...kind of a watermelon fruit punch flavor. :p :p

From what I've seen, at least 2014-2018 Sierra and Silverados have a petcock to drain coolant.
Yep. It sucked too. The radiator petcock only drains about 40% of the fluid. It was messy and hard (not impossible) to reach. The fluid ran everywhere and a 4'x4' container is needed to catch it.

I went through a whole shopping cart of grocery store distilled water and had to drain good antifreeze to do this.

Never again [emoji2957]. I will go to a professional shop and pay someone else to do this hassle next time.

Did my '14 somewhere around 150k miles.

Good commentary....always wondered how you'd capture the fluid. I agree with Lee, some things are best to leave to a pro, especially when it's messy. I figure I really only need to have it done once or twice in the life of the truck, so why not pay someone. And this coming from a guy who dumps all the other fluids way too soon...

Like I said earlier, I paid $149 for a flush and it was well worth not getting filthier than ferrarilmao mud wrestling roo for a set of LED taillights.

I didn't have to wrestle Mike for the taillights, Terry. He bought his on FB Marketplace, as did I. Mike, however was kind enough to provide me the wiring diagram to do the mod.

And I wouldn't do the transmission flush, either. Not worth doing it myself for $149.00.

What about a coolant flush like this thread is about though? ;)

Not sure my radiator has a cap....I should probably check into that.

LOL; Yah, I think I have had mine off just once in 7 years.

Had the a compressor leaking so while it was being serviced I had the dealer flush the system. 50 bucks for the coolaid. No labor costs be added because they already had the radiator out.
