Hello All. I am a proud owner of a 2007.5 Duramax. I overfilled my coolant like to the top. And it started leaking out the overflow on the bottom. Well I started thinking the worse. Like head gasket and all. I don't smell coolant in exhaust. Or smell or see coolant in oil. So I can count that out. But now my coolant is below the fill level. Granted it's still warm. But the add coolant warning came on. Any help?

Is it consuming coolant then I assume?

There are things other than head gaskets that can cause a loss of coolant.

So you added too much coolant and it came out the overflow tube - check! That part is 100% correct and proper.

Are we to assume that it has been losing coolant regularly? Are you refilling every week or month or whatever?

If it is indeed losing (spelled correctly, please note, haha ;) ) coolant, then the very first thing you should do is fill and run a pressure test. Don't waste time or money guessing, not unless you have to. A pressure test will typically reveal the issue.
