With the camping trailer sitting level, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the tongue. Write it down. Now, with truck sitting level, measure from the ground to the bottom of receiver. Write it down. Just subtract the smaller from the longer measurement. This is a good start for the correct drop needed.

This does not account for the tongue weight of trailer and it's effect on the rear suspension of the truck.
