I made the switch from aircraft mechanic to heavy equipment mechanic. I'm pretty happy with my decision. We get to work a little bit of everything. I'm surprised you didn't see much engine work, we've currently got like 3 or 4 machines with engines out or going back in. It seems like there is always someone breaking in to one.

So there is an heir to the hot pocket fortune. I don't know why that sounds so funny to me. I wish I was an heir to the pizza roll fortune. I'd be all, "keep it, just give me a lifetime supply". Hopefully the pizza roll people are in business with the Miller lite people.

So I've been working this motor grader. The differential lock system had been overheated for a long time and all the hoses, seals, and pump were toast, also, I had to drop the rear axle and replace the pinion seals. Finally, got it all put back together and went for a test drive. Put the blade in the dirt to lift one tandem off the ground to check the diff lock and caught a gas line that was only like an inch from the surface. Then, when I got out to check things out I noticed something let go on the front of the engine and started spraying coolant everywhere. Needless to say, I'm drinking beers tonight.

On my way to the truck wash this morning I was on a straight stretch of road and for whatever reason I decided to test the lane keeping assist. After one period of going from right to left it starts beeping at you and tells you to take the wheel.

Zero degrees with a real feel of -18F. Rolling blackouts and frozen water lines. It's not suppose to get this damn cold in Texas. On a good note, I remote started the truck and the L5P fired right up.

I saw the news reports about power blackouts and how they are begging people to cut-back on power usage. Hmmm... makes me wonder how the hell 8 million people are supposed to recharge their electric cars/trucks in the future when stuff like this happens.
Right? We'll be having blackouts every holiday weekend.

Our power has been out since about 5pm yesterday. We still have some water but that will eventually run out since the town that our water company gets the water from is out. Luckily, we had a generator so heat isn't an issue and can run some appliances. There are a lot of people in the area that have nothing at all.
