Hey Guys...
I've been reading a ton on the forum regarding the low oil pressure, valve chatter, oil consumption, etc. issues with the 5.3Ls.
I have a 2010 GMC 4x4, 5.3L V8 with approximatelty 162K miles. I have had the oil consumption issue since around 80K with no help at the time from my dealer. So now I have the #7 cylinder with zero pressure, and the #1 cylinder with 90psi, and the rest seem to check out good at 120 psi - at idle.
Does anyone know, or can tell me, what my chances are of getting the dealer to make the piston/ring repairs I've been reading about on the forums? Or am I stuck with the repair costs now that the mileage is obviously out of warranty range and the #7 cylinder is dead.
Just needing some advice.
PS - Anyone know what the average cost would be to have the repair done? By Dealer... Mechanic... Me?
