It is located inside the door latch on the nnbs(07+) trucks, I will bet it is there also on your 04

I didnt know the other doors would cancel rap, I thought it was only the driver door... anyways I fried my door switch also and had to replace the door latch(where the sensor is) to get my rap/lights to work again...

 

So, you're saying it's in the striker that locks onto the door post then?

 

Yes, in fire fighter lingo that would be the B post and nader bolt

Its the mechanism that you can have the door open, reach in and close the latch and the truck thinks the door closed.

 

Learned something new, I've always called it the strike post. Nader bolt, got it. I knew A/B/C pillar thing though.

Now, to tear the door apart. NOT looking forward to that.

 

Im not a fan of it either...you could grab the wire on that "open" end of the switch under the dash and run a grounding switch to it. Then flipping the switch grounds the circuit and the truck thinks the door opens... The truck thinks the door is open when the circuit is grounded and closed when there no ground present. But that would be... Well... Not right so good luck on swapping it...!

 

It is built into the latch from 99 new body and up not sure about the 99 classic and before

 

Is this a dealer onluy item? Oreilly & auto zone cant find it in there system. My truck is doing this exact thing

Im having the same problem on my truck. it drives me nuts sometimes. on my alarm, somtimes i have to unlock all the doors in order because the driver only unlock does not work. it really sucks. i'm going to tear my door apart when I get up in the morning and find out what the heck is going on.
