I have a 2016 Silverado crew cab and the rear drivers side door will only open half way. I managed to get it once and it seemed a little wet and icy. Later that day it did it again and now it's not giving way. I'm thawing the thing out in my dad's garage tonight so I guess we will see what the morning brings. If that's not it, any ideas? Obviously it's under warranty but still kind of annoying.

My guess is ice. I haven't heard of any other problems with the later model trucks. If the thaw out doesn't work, I would just take it to the dealer and let them deal with it. It shouldn't be too hard for them to diagnose since it will be still doing it when you get there unlike many other issues that are intermittent.

Well it appears to have been ice. Kinda bizzare that the door would open half way and just dead stop. Well I guess if I understood everything I'd be rich. The door rod was all wet so I'll see if it freezes again but I wiped that off so fingers crossed.
Maybe try some 3M silicone spray on the mechanism and the weather seals to prevent sticking ice from forming a bond. Just don't use it in your door lock cylinder. It will gum that up.
If it was solid enough to forcibly keep the door from opening, it was probably a pretty good sized chunk of ice. My guess is that all the rain, melting and freezing the last few days was the cause and I wouldn't expect it to be a continuous problem.
yeah I just came back from the cabin and it was in a snow storm so I'm sure it somehow got in there upon opening the door etc. I'll lube it up and call it a day. Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
