So I removed the ground for the EBCM that is located on the frame right under the driver side door panel in order to clean it and make sure that it wasn't causing my service brakes soon message to appear on the DIC. I removed it, used a wirebrush to scrape the bare metal on the frame and tightened it back, and now my truck acts like it has a grounding problem when starting.
At first try it clicked with no response from the starter. After a couple of times it finally got contact and started fine, but will randomly not have any communication when trying to start. I don't understand how this ground can affect the ECM or the start/crank circuit, but it definitely has caused some type of grounding issue. I never saw any problem of this sort until I unbolted that ground.
The heat shrink and terminal lug on the wire seem tight and not corroded enough to cause an issue. What could be going on?
