Factory alarm problem

I have a 2012 GMC with a factory alarm. Occasionally when I lock the doors using fob the alarm goes off a little while later for no apparent reason whatsoever. I have read other posts suggesting that maybe the key fob buttons are sticking creating a panic mode. Is there a way to test a fob? What else could it be? Is there a way to desensitize the alarm? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a newbie

Please clarify what you mean by "a little while later". Is that a few seconds, minutes or what? Is it always the same time after locking the truck? Does it always happen?

I would disconnect the negative battery cable for a half hour to get all the truck modules to reset. Then, I would go around and open and solidly close all doors and the hood to make sure one of them isn't slightly ajar.

As far as timing, i've never timed it, but its about enough time for a person to park it and walk inside a store or my house, so I'm guessing a minute or two? And it doesn't happen all the time its pretty random. I have disconnected the battery for several hours while doing something else and it hasn't changed anything. I will check the doors, hood, and load test the battery.

Well, that is all I have. Reason I asked about humidity and rain is that my Wifes cobalt had a similar problem a couple times. Never found out for sure what the cause was, but it always happened when it was very wet and humid outside or raining. Damn thing would go off in the middle of the night. I would reset it and a 15 minute or so later it would go again. I thought maybe some neighbor kids were playing games so I sat in the damn car until it went off again. I finally had to disable the alarm and leave the car unlocked. Next day, it was fine, until a couple months later.

You need to look at what triggered the content theft event. Typically doors or the hood. You need a dealer type scan tool to get this info. Seen 1-2 with water leaks in rear doors but variables are endless.
