I got a service air bag warning on dash monitor, a mechanic friend hooked up computer and it said front passenger air bag impact sensor is bad, no problem easy fix right? My question is, I looked online and found a ton of sensors from 50 bucks to 90 bucks. I call local chevy dealer for the hell of it, $294.80 for sensor. Why? I have a 2007 silverado, LTZ Z71 4x4 6.0l engine. Is it because of bigger engine? Hope someone can answer this.

I would double check the wiring, connector and sensor itself.

Were the ones you found used? I doubt they would be different for the 6.0 but do not know. I would just check the PN.

The ones I saw were all new, I would never put a used one on something that important. I just cant get a answer on the HUGE price difference. Even chevy dealer could not give me a answer. But every sensor I look up for my truck is under 100 bucks, except for dealer. weird!

Are they after market or the same. If they are the same your dealer just has a high price. Did you check on gmpartsdirect?

Just remember that reading a code does not determine if a component is defective or not. Having the part's name in the code can just mean it is one of the messages about the issue in the system. Good luck.
