No such thing as a 1500HD or an 8 lug 1500. The 8 lug trucks are 2500HD. There is the HD trailer package available on the 1500 but that should not be confused with a true HD truck.

Ummm, that is incorrect. From '01-'07, there was exactly that. a 1500HD with 8-lug axles.

Crew cab short bed, 6.0, 4l80, autotrac t case, 9.5"SF rear, 9.25" front, and 8 lug.

I heard some 1500 Silverados are Heavy Duty and some are not.

How do you tell if a truck is HD or not HD?

Mine is an LT and is supposed to have the towing package, so does that mean it's HD?

If you have the factory build or window sticker look for code NHT if you want to verify it has the max trailing package

Just to throw a wrench in this the older ones ('89) did have 6 lug and were 2500LD or also called heavy half's. The red and white one here (of course) was this, rear was a 14 bolt semi float.
I kind of miss the truck at times.
