I recently purchased a 1998 GMC C/K 1500 2WD with a 4.3 V6 Vortec. The truck wasn't running, but it does crank over without firing. The seller told me he thought it was the fuel pump. I would like to get it running. How can I tell if it's the fuel pump or something else? I'm not a mechanic, but handy. The truck has 245,000 kms.

50 bucks says it is the fuel pump, if not that the cap and rotor. Spray ether in the TB while cranking if it fires and dies check fuel pressure, if it doesn't fire then check for spark.
