I bought a pair of Xentec hid's and there great. But the ballast are plastic, and i've heard they can explode from getting overheated. I'm trying to find a new pair that haas either metal, or aluminum ballast. Could somebody please help me? I have a budget of $150

I have ran the metal ballast and my most recent pair was the plastic and I have been running them for 6 months now and never had a problem with them. I have never heard of them exploding or what not.

I have had metal and plastic ballast with no problems. Also never heard of them exploding but I guess anything is possible.

I think you're ok.. I've had a set in, with plastic ballasts for over a year, never an issue with overheating. And they wouldn't blow up, or explode.. If anything, they would just stop working.
