I live between Buffalo, NY(144th) and Rochester, NY(111). I travel in the Syracuse(121st) area for camp. There is a sense of entitlement where a turn signal automatically means the space one intends to fill is claimed theirs regardless of weather the space is occupied or not. Where single lane stoplights are gridlocked by the vast majority of impatient drivers passing like a Conga line on the right shoulder while left turners wait and sneak thru the light one at a time upon turning Red. Where so many have no sense of distance when pulling out in swift moving traffic. Lastly and no pun intended, but the area is riddled with Tailgaters. I guess defensive driving thrives here cause even though there are idiots and we get ever more populated in the area, we manage to keep vehicle contact at a minimum.

We have all the usual morons around here but are a couple that really drive me nuts.

You're tooling along, there is a small but appropriate gap between you and the car in front of you and NO ONE behind you for as far as you can see... and some idiot will pull out right in front of you, causing you to slam on your brakes to avoid hitting them. They could have waited 3 seconds and pulled out after you passed and taken their time but NO!!!! They see a small gap and jump into traffic. Their line of vision extends about to the end of their hood. I was taught to look two, three or five cars ahead, or back. GRRRRR!!!!!!!

Same thing applies when someone makes a left turn across your path, right in front of you, when there is no one behind you for 500 yards. So stupid. Then they get all pissy when you give them the salute and horn.

The only other one I'll menion is fools who use the left turn lane as a passing lane IN A 25 mph SCHOOL ZONE!! and go flying past cross walks of kids then slam on the brakes and make a sharp turn into the elementary shcool parking lot so their own kids won't be late for school. I've seen that happen several times. They would be the first to sue if their own kids got hit by a speeding car on their way to school but it's somehow okay if they put other kids in danger. That takes a special kind of stupid.

I go through a number of school zones in my daily travels. All school zones here have flashing yellow lights with the 20MPH speed limit sign when the kids are coming and going, and even with kids everywhere and streets lined with big yellow school buses it's not enough. A number of the schools I go by now have a patrol car sitting in plain site with it's lights flashing.

I live in Washington state I drive from south Puyallup to Renton Boeing up 167. Drivers are good..unless its rainy, a slight drizzle or sunny or overcast. Basically drivers here suck! You have to be alert at all times. I work swing shift, so rolling home at midnight. It's like a drag race. I usually drive 70mph in the HOV lane and people fly by me at 90mph+.

164th in good ole Houston. Does not surprise me. People drive very aggressive and you really have to be on the defensive around here.

Wherever I go, the drivers all suck compared to me. (kidding)

Yeah, school zones and construction zones are two places where I really slow down. Too much going on, plus heavily enforced.

Worst drivers around here show up in the early fall, when the university starts session. Influx of drivers from heavily populated / aggressive driving areas who have had their licenses for all of three years. More than once I've had to show someone how to put gas in their car (Jersey people). But, they figure out the transit bus schedule and things mellow out.

We watch the school break schedule and don't travel when the students are returning after break. The interstate is always a mess; lots of fender benders.

And why is it that people think a fender bender completely disables their car. Take a couple pictures, then get out of the middle of the freeway to the shoulder so the rest of use can get by w/o sitting thru a 5 mile back up for your busted tail light.

Being in construction, I have had to work in the street, it's no fun, you really gotta keep your head on a swivel and your ears tuned like radar.
People are not smart enough to realize that a kid can run into the street with no warning, a construction worker can take one step back to far, trip or need to jump out of the way of something going wrong. I regularly get a nod or wave from the flaggers and piss off those drivers behind me.

I live south of Baltimore and work north of Washington DC. When Allstate publishes that I drive among the worst drivers, they are correct. Old buggie paths are now major thoroughfares and there are just too many people that think they are more important than everyone else. I have seriously thought of selling the bike and adding James Bond machine guns to the truck. I am exhausted driving home every day. No wonder I look forward to a cold beer when I get home.

I have fairly decent drivers around here, but they have to get worse from Oct-May since that is when the snowbirds migrate to AZ. Now I would Have to agree with the list in the New England states. I have lived all over the world and New England drivers are by far the worse I have ever dealt with.
