I just called my local drivetrain shop (they had great reviews) to get an estimated price to regear the diffs in my truck. I want to go from 3.42 to 4.56 and they told me it would cost $2500-$2800. Does this sound right? I was expecting somewhere around $1500 to $1700 max. This is almost $1K more than what I was thinking.

they probably feel that they can charge whatever they want because they know they have excellent reviews and everyone pays it without a second thought.. but that is pretty steep.. anything over 2k is a ripoff IMO. considering i did mine my self in the garage for $400 and here 40k miles later nothing is wrong with them. (only a 2wd, so $600-800 for 4wd)
