I feel there needs to be some education on this matter

Dont be the ignorant ass woman who got the cussing of her life after she nearly wiped out my kids and my truck this morning. I guess her idea of navigating an unfamiliar intersection was to stomp on it and get through it at break neck speeds. If it wasn't for my uncanny situational awareness, cat like reflexes, years of professional driving under high stress conditions, and just overall superhuman handling talents of the 2010 GMC... I might be in jail for drowning her in the ditch. Its easy people, just yield to the circle... K i feel better! Thanks for letting me vent!

I have one better. A cop in Colorado Springs almost hit me at a traffic circle. he then pulled me over and issued me a ticket for not yielding to him (while he was entering the traffic circle). The best part of this was that I have been stationed overseas for 5+ years where traffic circles are normal day to day driving. I went to court to fight the ticket and the judge made the cop look/feel like an idiot.

Rotary's, as they're called up here, are a pain in the ass. I forget where, but I was driving thru another state where vehicles entering the rotary actually had the right of way.. Talk about confusing, I'm trying to get out of the circle using my directional, and wondering why everyone is stopping before the next entrance. I just keep going and almost kill a Prius. Then I see the tiny 5x5" sign that says yield to entering traffic. I think it was in Maryland maybe..not sure, many years ago.

I have the same frustrations when traffic goes from 2 lanes down to one right after a light intersection. No room for 2 lanes, and people don't understand the alternate pattern too well..not to mention those who drive in the "left-turn-only" lane, then just drive straight and try to squeeze in.. GRR!

Forget the turn lane..although that is pretty funny when they lose!!!! Hell just the 2 lane to 1to lane is enough..and even better... when it involves orange barrels ..love making the idiots take some out!!!!

It may be funny when they lose, but when they win. I'm not always eyeing my side-view mirror, and when they come up at 25mph and slam into the lane, it makes it tough not to hit them. In this state, no matter the cause or reason, the person who hits from behind is always 100% at fault. I've been screwed on that one beofre when some idiot went to enter a rotary, then slammed on his brakes for nothing. I prompty followed right behind him, and slammed into his Kia. Just had that come off my insurance this year.

I hate round abouts.....stupid thing and they are pointless most of the time. They only cause more issues and take up extra real estate for nothing.

There's a few down here in Texas that have certain directions yield while others do not to keep the major lanes of traffic moving quickly.

I think if everyone knows how to use them, and has a general idea of what other motorists are going to do, a roundabout is useful (think England). And yes, when they are not...they are downright dangerous.

Are they teaching this is driving schools now? Hopefully!

Dangerous and virtually outlawed in the Great State of Texas.
Please feel free to correct the list below the traffic circles in TX. I will stay away.
I know of one still in operation, Waco Texas.
Many moons ago, 1970s, their was one in Dallas (Fielder Circle) Harry Hines and NW Hwy, long gone.

There are at least two that I know of in Houston area, one near Rice Village downtown and one in Pearland TX, a suburb of Houston.

I still don't like them and they are a waste. They are only there to slow down traffic. Originally they were used for horses and carriages that could not turn sharply on normal intersections, that is no longer a valid reason for them.

Yeah there is good reason for them....give people a reason to be idiots!!!!! We have a couple here in the buckeye near the house...."downtown" a couple small towns..and are just, well said many times here, dangerous and worthless!!! Yeah here in the buckeye...back half of car is generally the person who hit the others fault.

We have 15 roundabouts in the town of Malta, NY. The worst one has two lanes all the way around the roundabout. People can be really stupid in this one. The rule is right lane for right turns out of roundabout and straight ahead. Left lane for left turns to continue around the roundabout and also straight ahead. Most accidents occur when right lane person goes left right in front of someone going straight. Also, people do not always yield to those already in roundabout causing some near road rage incidents.

The rule with a roundabout is easy, if you are already in it you have the right of way. If you are trying to get in it, you have to yield right of way.

Down here folks just drive straight across the two roundabouts I know of...watched it happened...hell done it myself when i forgot the stupid thing was there.

+1. It's not that complicated. When everybody in the circle knows the rules, they're actually quite efficient.

I feel you, there is a traffic light about an 1/8th mile down form my street, its a four lane highway...and when that light turns red the traffic backs up all the way to my street, NORMAL people will stop just short of my street and let me out to make a left turn. About two weeks ago, traffic was stopped, and the lane closest to me was backed up to my street, so that guy stopped short and I started to pull out, a guy in a POS toyota tercel starts to come to the end of that line in that lane and at the last minute whips into the other lane and starts to come around, so i pulled out there real quick because if he pulled forward he would have been blocking me in... he lays on his horn, and when I pulled out traffic was also stopped in the direction I was going so we had a bit of time to jaw back and forth because we were side by side pointing in opposite directions , I asked him "you seriously weren't going to let me out, you were going to pull up there knowing you can't go anywhere just to block me from turning?, the light is red" and he replied "don't pull out in front of people dumb a**" and I replied "I bet you won't pull into speedway and wait for this dumb a** to go up and turn around and come back"

Seems like when it comes to driving, a lot of people need that type of education that only comes with a dull thud, darkness, and a screaming headache when they wake back up. I watched in my mirror to see if he pulled into speedway, I was going to ring his school bell, but he didn't turn in...other word for kitty cat.

Oh man, traffic circles are brutal when people aren't used to them! Where I live they are very rare, and the first few that got put in were the type with an inner and outer lane...talk about confusion. Nobody had a GD clue what they were doing and fender benders galore sprung up until they just made it a one lane circle.

There are at least 12 that I can think of right in a close vicinity to me here in Billings. When I first moved here I thought they were a pain in the neck, but everyone flows so well through them that they flow way better than a traffic light... Only problem I ever see is people that try to hurry in front of you..
