Hello all, this may be a mundane question but I'm trying to replace the engine in my 2009 GMC Sierra 5.3 VIN 3 275,000 miles. wanting to go to a 6.2. are there any specific parts i need to grab from the salvage yard when pulling the 6.2, 2007-2013 is the 3rd gen gmc. Can I go 2nd gen silverado. any and all help/comments are welcomed. Thank You.

Entire wiring harness with all peripherals to include ECM, etc...to have complete compatibility. Is that correct fellows? Or advice not needed here. You say...

Harness is the same for the most part. The only possible differenece is the 5 pin (Cam/VVT) vs 3 pin (Cam only) connector on front of engine.

Id keep original 2009 ECM. If he gets a 2014 ECM from a 6.2 yukon then it wont communicate with his 2009 TCM.

You'll want an engine from a 2009-2013 Silverado or Sierra or the 2009 Cadillac Escalades or Yukon Denalis. All of these have the L9H 6.2 engine. There are some others but rare.

If you are going to overhaul new engine, you can get the L94 out of the 2010-2014 Escalades or Yukon Denalis and delete AFM during the overhaul and use an aftermarket or L9H camshaft (12711967).

The L92 engine was not FlexFuel and the injectors are smaller which limits the horsepower potential.

You'll want the whole engine and wiring harness and computer if you can score it. The 6.2 has VVT and your LC9 does not. You can pin your ECM for the VVT portion of the harness.

Sounds like a fun project, are you going to document it?
