Mounting a thermal optic

Any of you guys ever mounted a thermal optic on your truck?
I have a thermal you can remote view through a phone or tablet through an app. I want to be able to mount it/dismount and thermals cannot view through glass so it has to be outside. Also the heat radiating from the hood upwards would mess with the optic. So I was thinking of building a plate I could mount off the hood latch. Before I go the route of reinventing the wheel any of you done something like this?
Thermal is an AGM Rattler TS35 and it can mount to any pic rail.

Does your front bumper have a opening? Id mount it there.

-Low mounting postion

I would honestly rather have it closer to eye height using NV while driving is already difficult because of the depth perception. Also sometimes grass/hay can be that tall also while driving and the risk of damaging the lens.
I would love a way to have it built into the grill but not sure how well it would work once the thermal got heat soaked.

I would think some type of magnetic base like the Rovir uses. You could probably fab up something with a magnet and a rail.
