I know GM says to cut it off and always use a new one. With a bit of effort, you can get the belt off turning the engine over by hand and using a screwdriver or something similar to get it sideways a bit. IDK how well it works to re-use it, as my a/c system hasn't worked since I bought the truck.

Thanks for the info

Update on my status if anyone's interested. So the accessory belt I got from Autozone ended up not fitting, although in their system it said it was for the hybrid L8B engine.

Thanks to davestars, I got the idea of reusing the stock belt instead of cutting it off/replacing as recommended by GM. But finding a water pump was another hurdle. What started this was a bad wobble from the water pump pulley which made a terrible noise along with a small coolant leak. One a positive note, its actually very easy to get to. Lots of working space once you remove the air intake box. But as you can imagine, our water pump has a smaller and narrower pulley than normal 5.3 pumps (thus the unique sized stretch belt). None of the big auto parts stores could source them (Oreillys, AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, Napa, RockAuto, etc.). Only a random auto parts store on eBay and finditparts.com had them in stock. At the time, there's only 4-5 of them I could find online. Im gonna see if I can get my old one rebuilt (it's only got 34k miles) and keep it as a spare or help a fellow L8B owner.

As for the accessory belt, I took pics and got measurements hoping theres something similar. I reached out to continental belts, goodyear belts, AcDelco, dayco, bando, etc. and no one had a belt in their catalog that matched. So unless your local dealership planned ahead and stocked a bunch of these belts, waterpumps, and who knows what other unique L8B 5.3 parts, we are SOL. In the mean time, Im trying to find someone who can build us a custom belt. I will update as the time comes incase any future GM 5.3 eAssist owners comes accross these issues.

I have a 2018 GMC Sierra SLT with eAssist. I need to replace my AC belt (12669975) but no one has this part. GM says discontinued and every third parts is showing it as unavailable. Any ideas how I can get this belt? My truck is down until I can replace this. Thanks everyone.
FYI that GM part # 12669975 is a belt kit. It has the belt and small installation tool. The actual belt itself is GM 12630932 or 4PK1474

If the belt is still good put it back on for now, I’ve re used my air pump and AC stretch belts with no issues. There is a you tube video that shows how you can zip tie it to the pulley and hand crank the engine and get it back on. Maybe in the mean time keep looking for a spare

Update:
Just received another reply from Dayco, one of the many belt manufacturers I reached out too. Apparently GM missclassified this belt as 4PK1474. Its supposed to be 4PKE1474 (elastic). Dayco plans on releasing this belt in late January, early February :D

Anyone who tells you not to re-use a stretch belt that is in good condition is full of SH-T. I had an AC compressor on my 2019 Silverado come lose from the engine, throwing the belt off. I picked it up and took it to the local GM dealer to get a new replacement and they told me they could not even order it, GM 12630932 belt. The last time I checked, "All car makers in the US are required to make every part available for any car they manufacture and sell in the US for ten years after the production date." Thats another long story. So I put the used Stretch Belt back on since I had no other choice. The GM instructions say this will not work, but I currently have more than 6800 miles on that used stretch belt and it is working perfectly. Do not believe that you cannot reuse a good condition stretch belt on a GM engine.

Bsquare were you ever able to get a new belt? Or have you heard anything more from Dayco? If not, did you end up reusing your original belt? I seem to be in the same debacle with the water pump wobble/squeal. I went ahead and ordered the pump from finditparts.com. I'm just trying to weigh my options on the belt situation before I tear into it, or possibly take to a mechanic. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

@cbernal , if you want to ask someone specific a question, so they are notified about it (as most people don't turn off the default to be notified when they are mentioned in a post, you can reference their user name like I did yours, with an @ followed by the user name. On a desktop computer (and perhaps also on phones), a popup with user names may appear once you've typed several letters to allow auto-completing a valid user name.

Scratch that regarding Dayco. I reached out to them and this is what I received, “The Dayco aftermarket belt is in hot production. We are hoping to have this belt available within the next 30 to 45 days.”

I spoke with a random Chevy dealership guy that just went through this issue on a trade in. He said they finally went with the below belt and there mechanic was able to get it on. He reported its been a couple months and haven't had any issues, but also recommend the correct belt once it becomes available (this doesn't appear to be a stretch belt).

Gates Micro-V Serpentine Belt 4 Rib 60 Inch - K040595

I'm going to go with this belt if my original belt isn't salvagable after the waterpump change.

OE part number is GM 12630932 or a 4pk1474 this is a 4 rib 58 inch stretch belt ; we are trying a Dayco 5040575 which is 57.5 inch 4 rib, and a ZAH5040575 which is from Amazon , 4 rib, 58.25 inch. I get one tomorrow and the other Wed I will post here with results. Gates has a belt, which is GAT K040575 but Oreily no longer can order this belt. This belt measures 58.17 inches.

Both belts were installed and both broke. I didn't realize the belts MUST be a stretch style belt, no other style belts will work. Still looking for a stretch style 58 inch belt 4 rib. Not looking good....

Yes I reused my stretch belt. I had my son spin the crank pulley from the bottom while i used a rag wrapped around the belt to pull it off the water pump pulley slowly. I then used the zip tie method to put it back on after we changed out the water pump. There are lots of Youtube videos on removing/installing stretch belts without that stupid tool since the 2019's and up are all stretch belt as well. Its super easy to do. you got it!

Reach out to Dayco. According to them GM missclassified the belt as a 4PK1474, but supposed to be 4PKE1474 (e for elastic). Back in Jan the Dayco rep said that they're making our belts and should expect it in Feb. Another user who recently contacted them said in 30 to 45 days. Good luck bro. Im in Hawaii as well. Big Island.
